William McLeod Promoted to Director, National Development for the Millwright Regional Council

Edmonton, AB, January 30, 2026 – The Millwright Regional Council (MRC) is pleased to announce that Brother William McLeod has been promoted to Director, National Development, effective February 1, 2026.
Over the past two years, William has worked closely with the MRC as the Business Manager for UBC Millwright Local 1460 Alberta, where he demonstrated strong leadership and a clear ability to align education, training, and business development with the strategic priorities of both the Local and the MRC.
Reflecting on his new role, William shared, “My primary goals and priorities are to further advance the unmatched national standard we have already established by aligning that standard consistently across Canada and beyond. A key focus will be bridging gaps between training, workforce readiness, and market share, while pursuing new initiatives that position our organization for the next level of growth and impact.”
In his new role as Director, National Development, William will lead national initiatives focused on expanding union market share, advancing national training & Apprenticeship initiatives, supporting regional business development strategies, and strengthening relationships with stakeholders across Canada. This role will play a key part in advancing workforce confidence and ensuring UBC millwrights remain a trusted solution for complex, large-scale projects nationwide. With the collective support of all Millwright Regional Council Locals, the MRC has a unique opportunity to collaborate in a meaningful way and pursue ambitions that extend well beyond traditional approaches. The potential ahead for our membership is significant.
William also acknowledged his work with Local 1460 stating, “To the members of Local 1460, thank you for your trust and support during my time there. Leading this Local has been a privilege, and the experience has shaped me more than I can fully express. To all our UBC Millwright Locals across the country, the time to move beyond traditional models is now. Through strong partnerships and collaboration, we will drive meaningful change together. I look forward to working closely with all of you and am proud to serve our members across Canada in this new role.”
William brings proven experience, industry insight, and a practical, results-driven approach to this national portfolio. The MRC is confident his leadership will support continued growth and long-term opportunities for members across all regions.
