Published On: December 17, 2025Categories: Press Release

The Millwright Regional Council is pleased to welcome Brett Carpenter as the new Business Representative for UBC Millwright Local 1592 in Sarnia, Ontario. Brett brings eight years of experience in the millwright trade, having started his apprenticeship with Local 1592 in 2017. From the outset, Brett was drawn to millwrighting for the variety of work and the opportunity to continuously build new skills.

Throughout Brett’s career, experience has been gained across a wide range of sectors. This includes nearly two years on the construction phase of Nova AST2, SFCR and bulkhead removal work at Bruce Power, local turnaround projects, and maintenance work within Sarnia’s oil and gas industry. Additional experience spans automotive, manufacturing, and cement plants, providing a well-rounded perspective on the trade.

In the role of Business Representative, Brett will oversee Local 1592’s jurisdiction across Lambton, Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Huron, Perth, and Bruce counties. Brett’s priorities include organizing new companies to expand market share, creating more work opportunities for members, and strengthening working relationships with contractors and industry partners.

Brett has remained actively involved within Local 1592, serving as a delegate, trustee, and supporting member events. The union’s focus on safety, training, and solidarity has shaped Brett’s approach to leadership and representation. Outside of work, Brett enjoys baseball, golf, and spending time outdoors. The Millwright Regional Council looks forward to Brett’s contributions in this new role.
