The Millwright Regional Council is proud to honour and celebrate the exceptional career of Brother Scott McCoy as he retires after an extraordinary 35 years of dedicated service to our union and our trade.

Scott began his journey with UBC Millwright Local 1916 in Hamilton, where he completed his apprenticeship and distinguished himself as a highly skilled millwright before moving into leadership roles that helped shape our organization for decades.

Throughout his career, Scott devoted more than 25 years to the Council, serving as a Business Representative, Business Manager, and Apprentice Coordinator. His influence expanded even further when he became Council President—a role he held for an exceptional 17 years—providing steady leadership, strategic vision, and unity during a pivotal period in our history.

“Scott’s work has strengthened our Council, supported our members, and ensured our contractors received the professionalism and reliability they expect from UBC Millwrights. His leadership and the results he delivered over many years have made a substantial contribution to this organization”.
Mark Beardsworth, Executive Secretary-Treasurer

Most recently, Scott served as the Director of Organizing for the Millwright Regional Council, playing a key role in strengthening our presence across Canada and advancing the union’s growth. His contributions were foundational to the development of the new Council, and his impact on our members, our Locals, and the broader union will be felt for generations.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Brother Scott McCoy for his leadership, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to the millwright trade.

Congratulations, Scott. Wishing you a long, healthy, and well-earned retirement.
