Tradewinds to Success Graduates

Edmonton, AB - The Alberta Millwrights Local 1460 union has been a proud supporter of the Tradewinds to Success program since 2010. Through mentorship programs and hands-on training, the union has been educating and empowering students from Indigenous communities to succeed in the millwright trade. Millwright Local 1460’s commitment to developing the next generation of millwright professionals is evident in the most recent graduation of Tradewinds students from our program.

The Tradewinds to Success program is a unique initiative that supports individuals from Indigenous communities in accessing education and professional training in millwrighting. The program provides a comprehensive education and training experience for students, including job readiness skills, training in workplace safety, and hands-on apprenticeship opportunities. The program is designed to empower and support students in building successful careers in the millwright trade, a highly specialized field.

"The 2023 graduates of the program are exceptional examples of the program's success. These students have demonstrated their commitment to learning and have shown exceptional potential in the millwright trade. The dedication and hard work of the graduates has been recognized by Alberta Millwrights Local 1460 and we are confident that they will bring value back to their communities.” Stan Howell - Regional Manager (BC, AB, SK)

We have been a steadfast supporter of the Tradewinds to Success program, mentoring more than one hundred students. Alberta Millwrights Local 1460 in conjunction with the Millwright Regional Council understands the importance of investing in education and cultivating a skilled and diverse workforce for employment in the millwright trade.
